CENTRAL DISTRICT POLICE INAUGRATED “PINK CHOWKI” AT SHRADHANAND MARG, PS KAMLA MARKET DURING CELEBRATION OF AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV AND DELHI POLICE WEEK

As an another step forward, after the successful installation of Pink Booth manned by all women staff at PS Karol Bagh, A “PINK CHOWKI” was inaugurated by DCP/Central on 18.02.22 at Shraddhanand Marg, PS Kamla Market to resolve the grievances of citizens especially the vulnerable population living at Sharadanand Marg.

This Chowki has all the women police staff who have been actively working to provide better and dignified life to these vulnerable population living at Sharadanand Marg. The Chowki will cater to the genuine grievances of women/girls living in the area and will take immediate legal action on their complaints. The Pink Chowki is an attempt to provide a safe complaint redressal mechanism for these women/girls without having to visit the police station.

The ground floor of the Chowki has been made to facilitate complaints or grievances from women and the first floor has been converted to a hall where sewing machines have been kept. The Chowki also has computers for women who are keen to learn and the nursing staff from AIIMS has also been invited to provide job training to seven women. After completion of the training, these women can work as helpers at city hospitals and clinics. Besides this, they are also being engaged in small activities like making “Diya and pots” so they can earn money and become independent.

Furthermore, to succeed in the goal of providing a safe and secure environment to the women / girls living in the Central District, establishment of eight more Pink Booths are in the pipeline including Mata Sundari College and Rajindar Nagar.
Members of Market Welfare Associations and senior officers of Central District were present during the inauguration ceremony. The local people and market associations have welcomed and praised this initiative of Central District.
With a goal to provide safe environment to all the citizens, Central District has worked to develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive approaches to prevent and respond to every type of crime in public spaces in Central District. We are hopeful that with successful implementation of this new initiative of Central District, residents of Delhi will feel more secure & safe.
