CM Delhi Arvind Kejriwal to address C40 summit through video conferencing on Friday

Chief Minister Mr Arvind Kejriwal will on Friday address the C40 Climate Change Summit through video conferencing, in his speech during the session on solutions to tackle air pollution.

Mr Kejriwal has accepted the request of the Summit organisers to deliver his address through video conferencing in the session titled – Breathe deeply, city solutions for clean air.

The Chief Minister will also address a joint press conference through video conferencing with mayors of six major world cities at 12 noon on Friday.

The schedule for the press conference is as follows :

Press conference will be addressed in the following order :

1. Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo

2. Mayor of Los Angeles, Eric Garcetti

3. Lord Mayor of Copenhagen, Frank Jensen

4. Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal (on video conferencing)

5. Mayor of Barcelona, Ada Colau

6. Mayor of Portland, Ted Wheeler

7. Mayor of Lima, Jorge Muñoz Wells

(This press conference is at 8:30 AM Copenhagen local time – 12 noon Indian Standard Time)

Mr Kejriwal is expected to share his experiences on how Delhi has been successful in reducing air pollution by 25 % during the last five years.

The Chief Minister is also likely to share the experience of how Delhi became the first city in the world to successfully implement the Odd-Even experiment for restricting the vehicular traffic on the roads of the city, which led to a reduction in air pollution in Delhi.

Odd-Even experiment in Delhi was an unprecedented success beyond the imagination of the Delhi government, and it was embraced by all walks of life with open arms.

The year 2016 began with Odd- Even, which saw roads free of congestion, less dust and less smoke, and most importantly air pollution began to dip, Delhi was in love with Odd-Even.
