The Special Staff of Central District Delhi Police has apprehended one snatcher-cum-auto lifter namely Rajiv @ Mota @ Patad aged 33 years r/o Andha Mugal, Pratap Nagar, Gulabi Bagh, Delhi. He is a history sheeter of PS Gulabi Bagh and previously involved in 20 cases of robbery, snatching, theft, MVT, arms act etc. Three snatched/theft mobile phones and three stolen motorcycles have been recovered from him.

To curb the property offences, a special team led by Inspr. Lalit Kumar, I/C Special Staff comprising of SI Rajkumar Singh, ASI Pradeep Kumar, ASI Sushil Rana, Ct. Atul and Ct. Praveen was formed under the supervision of Shri Naresh Kumar, ACP/Operation, Central District Delhi. The team collected intelligence in the area and deployed team members at vulnerable areas.

On 08.03.19, a secret information was received that one person carrying stolen/snatched mobile phones would come at Rani Jhansi Road on a stolen motorcycle. Acting upon this information a trap was led by police team in plain clothes. At about 10.15 hrs., a black colour motorcycle without number plate was indicated to stop for checking but the bike rider turned back and tried to sped away. The police team managed to overpower him and apprehended the person who was identified as Rajiv @ Mota @ Patad r/o Gulabi Bagh, Delhi. On his cursory search, three mobile phones were recovered. During further verification, the bike on which he was riding, was found to be stolen from the area of PS Gulabi Bagh. Further, at his instance, another two stolen bikes were also recovered from Kishanganj, Manakpura, Delhi.

He was subjected to sustained interrogation in which it was revealed that he is a history sheeter of PS Gulabi Bagh and previously involved in 20 cases of robbery/snatching/theft/MVT/arms act etc. He disclosed that he along with his accomplices used to steal two-wheelers with the help of duplicate keys and further used these stolen bikes for committing snatching/theft. After committing several incidents, they left the bike in abandoned places and further used other stolen bikes for committing crime. They have committing more than one hundred incidents of snatching/theft in different parts of Delhi. In the past, he has been arrested several times but after his release from jail, he again started committing crime.
