NEW DELHI : “Disha” programme was launched in East District in September 2021 in an effort to acieve the goal of’” Drug Sensitized District” under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abiyaan (NMBA) launched by Govt. of India. The motive of this programme was to sensitize our youth about ills of drug addiction and alcoholism and encourage them to lead drug free healthy life.
Regular Drug awareness programme through nukkad nataks are being organized at places with heavy footfall with the help of NGOs. Till now we have conducted 25 such programmes in which 2772 persons have participated.
Another programme is being conduted at thana level in association with “Alcoholic Anonymous” Organisation to make our policemen and general public aware about harms caused by alcohol consumption. In this programme youth are guided through the ways to get rid of the habit. The participants enrolled in the programme are further invited to the meetings where people who had come out of the habit, share their recovery experience to motivate others. Three programmes in the series of eleven (one each in every police station) have been conducted so far in which 56 persons have been benefitted.
