With the arrest of three persons, the SOS-II/Crime Branch, Sector-18, Rohini, Delhi has busted an interstate gang of illicit liquor smugglers. The arrested persons are (1) Prempal r/o Baljit Nagar, Delhi, Age-35 Yrs. (2) Ankit Soni r/o Baljit Nagar, Delhi Age-22 Yrs. (3) Chottu Singh @ Radhey r/o Punjabi Basti, Baljit Nagar, Delhi, Permanent Address- Distt. Chapra, Bihar Age-20 Yrs. 202 cartons (9696 quarters) of illicit liquor, approximately 1750 liters, (for sale in Haryana & Arunachal Pradesh only) were recovered from them. The gang was procuring liquor from Haryana and was selling it in Delhi after changing the labels / stickers on the bottles (For sale in Delhi only).

On 09.03.19, information was received by HC Govender of SOS-II/Crime Branch that inter-state illicit liquor suppliers are selling and storing illicit liquor for the purpose of sale during the Holi festival at Baljit Nagar, Delhi. It was also learnt that the bootleggers were changing the labels/stickers/seals on the liquor bottles with forged label of reputed brands and changing sale in Haryana to sale in Delhi only. A team led by Insp. Abhinendra Jain comprising of ASI Lakhvinder,under close supervision of ACP Sh. Anil Dureja was constituted to organize a raiding party.

On 09.03.19 at about12:30 PM, a trap was laid and two persons namely Prempal and Ankit were apprehended with 21 Cartons of Impact Grain Whiskey (48 quarters of 180 ml in every carton) from their Wagon R car. At their instance, 42 cartons illicit liquor was recovered from their godown at Punjabi Basti, Baljit Nagar, Delhi and further 119 Cartons of (57 cartons of country made illicit liquor) was recovered from another godown at Punjabi Basti, Baljit Nagar, Delhi. A large quantity of forged unused Labels/Stickers of Royal Stag were also recovered and approximately 5 cartons of Officer’s Choice Blue Whiskey and 1 carton of Royal Stag whiskey with forged Stickers/Lables/Seals pasted on it were also recovered. Acase, vide u/s 33 Delhi Excise Act & 420/468/471/34 IPC was registered at PS Crime Branch accordingly and investigation was taken up.
