Interstate Illegal Firearms Syndicate Busted by Delhi Police

A team of Special Cell, Southern Range led by Inspr. Ishwar Singh under the supervision of ACP Attar Singh, has busted an interstate gun-running racket by arresting a notorious arms supplier namely:-Kasim Ali (aged 60 yards) R/o Distt Hamirpur (UP).

Above arms supplier has been arrested during the intervening night of 29 & 30.01.2022 at MB Road near Pul Prahladpur New Delhi. 10 pistols iw2e. 07 semi-automatic pistols of .32 and 03 single-shot pistols and 20 live cartridges have been recovered from the arrested accused. He has been indulging in firearms trafficking in Delhi NCR, Haryana & UP West for the last about 15 years. He used to get supply of arms and ammunition from arms manufacturers of Sendwa in Distt Badwani Madhya Pradesh.

In pursuit of constant drive launched by the Special Cell against the illegal firearms traffickers in Delhi NCR involved in procuring weapons from Sendhwa, Khargone, Dhar and Burhanpur (MP) and further supplying in Delhi NCR, concerted efforts were being made to identify the members of these syndicates. Special Cell had earlier succeeded in busting several such interstate arms syndicates in the past. A team of Special Cell was having information about the illegal activities of arms trafficking in Delhi NCR by Kasim in association with his associates. Manual surveillance was mounted to develop the information about him and other members of this syndicate. Secret sources were deployed to gather information in this regard.
After continuous efforts of more than two months, a specific information was received on 29.01.2022 that a notorious arms trafficker namely Kasim would come near railway bridge on MB Road, Pul Prahlad Pur, New Delhi between 8 PM to 9 PM to deliver the supply of firearms & ammunition to one his contacts in Delhi. Accordingly, a raiding party lead by Insp. Ishwar Singh was formed and a trap was laid near the aforesaid railway bridge on Mehrauli-Badarpur Road. At about 8.15 PM, Kasim carrying a bag on his shoulder was spotted arriving and further waiting under the said railway bridge. After waiting for about 10-15 minutes, he started walking. He was surrounded and overpowered by the members of the team. From his search, 07 semi-automatic pistols of .32, 03 single-shot pistols of .315 and 20 live cartridges i.e. 14 cartridges of .32 bore and 6 of .315 were recovered from his bag. A case under section 25(8) of Arms (Amendment) Act, 2019, in P.S. Special Cell was registered in this regard. In this section, there is provision of minimum sentence of 10 years and it can be extended upto life imprisonment and also punishable with fine.

During the interrogation, accused Kasim has disclosed that he had received the supply of recovered pistols and cartridges from a notorious arms manufacturer-cum-supplier of District Badwani in MP. He has further disclosed that he has been indulging in the supply of illegal firearms and ammunition in Delhi NCR, Haryana and UP West for the last 15 years. Initially Kasim had worked as career for an arms trafficker of UP for about 5 years but subsequently he developed his own network of arms trafficking. He used to get a pistol from MP at lower price and he used to further supply it at higher price to the gangsters and hardcore criminals in Delhi NCR, UP and Haryana. From the interrogation of Kasim, it has been revealed that he has already supplied more than 500 firearms in Delhi NCR in the last 3 years.

Kasim has disclosed to have been previously arrested in five cases of arms smuggling and in one of narcotic drugs supplying in Delhi NCR and UP.

Further interrogation of accused is in progress. Efforts to trace and arrest the backward and forward linkages of his syndicate are being made.
