In a befitting ceremony at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, gallant BSF men have been awarded with medals and honoured by the Chief Guest Shri Ajit Doval, NSA. Total 22 members of the Force were decorated with Medals in which 11 members with Police Medals for Gallantry,10 Officers and men (including 02 retired members) have been awarded with Police Medals for Meritorious Service and 01 Officer with Uttam Jeewan Raksha Padak. Among others, retired DsG/IsG of BSF, DsG of CAPFs, serving officers from different ministries of Govt. of India and representatives of print and electronic media were in attendance with BSF fraternity today.
The Investiture Ceremony organized on 22nd May’ 2019 is a mark of deep seated affection and respect for founding father of BSF, Shri K F Rustamji. BSF has been organizing the Investiture Ceremony on the birthday of Shri K F Rustamji since 2003.
Welcoming all to the occasion, DG BSF Shri Rajni Kant Mishra first paid rich tribute to the martyrs of the Force who gave supreme sacrifice on the altar of duty, serving the motherland. ShriMishra reiterated Bordermen’s commitment for the services of protecting the boundaries of nation. Shri Mishra said that BSF is in constant endeavour of preparing itself in terms of strategy, infrastructure, weaponry and training. BSF is carrying out relentless vigil along the borders. The Director General also spoke about the ‘Soldierly traits and Visionary Leadership Skills’ of first Director General Shri K F Rustamji, who is always popularly referred to as “Founding Father of BSF”.
DG BSF reiterated the BSF commitment to national security and nation building in his welcome address.
Speaking to the occasion, Shri Ajit Doval, NSA, mentioned that each soldier of Border Security Force is brave. He said that if country is safe today, BSF has a greater contribution to it. Shri Ajit Doval said that technology is going to play a major role in days to come for guarding our borders and he is happy to note the BSF is paying adequate attention to upgrade themselves.
The Investiture Ceremony-2019 was followed by 14th Rustamji Memorial Lecture.Dr. Ajai Sahni the Executive Director of the Institute for Conflict Management and the South Asia Terrorism Portal; Publisher & Editor, South Asia Intelligence review faultiness: KPS Gill Journal of Conflict & Resolution, and Second sight; and Project Director, Impact, delved into the topic of‘The shifting borders of Conflict’.
