Millennium DTC bus depot robbery solved

A team of Special Cell, Delhi Police led by Inspector Manoj Dixit and Inspector Shiv Kumar under the supervision of Sh. Satyavir Singh, ACP, Special Cell, Southern Range have arrested three notorious robbers viz. (i) Deepak s/o Satyapal Singh r/o H. No. 170, E-Block, Rameshwar Park, Loni, Ghaziabad, UP, (ii) Arvind Kumar @ Bablu s/o Chanderpal r/o Gali No. 2, Shakti Garden, Saboli, Delhi and (iii) Anil Kumar s/o Ishwar Singh r/o VPO- Doghat, Tehsil- Baraut, Distt. Baghpat, UP and recovered Rs. 1.90 Lakh cash alongwith one country made pistol of .315 Bore with live cartridges, paper cutter (knife), Yamaha Motorcycle and mobile phones which were used in the commission of crime.

According to SANJEEV KUMAR YADAV, DCP special cell , A case of robbery at cash counter of Millennium DTC Depot, Sarai Kale Khan was reported by Shri Vikram Singh s/o Shri Phool Singh r/o H. NO. 1606, I-Block, Jahangir Puri, Delhi, who was posted at the cash counter. In the night intervening 14-15 July, 2014, the complainant was performing the duty of Assistant cashier alongwith Mahipal Singh at the Millennium DTC bus depot cash counter. About 03:45 AM, 4/5 persons forced him to open the door of the cash-room at the point of country made pistol and knife. Frightened by the sudden presence of armed persons, Vikram Singh opened the door and the robbers barged into the room and injured Vikram Singh to make him submit to them and robbed Rs. 9 Lakhs. A case vide FIR No. 441 dated 15.07.2014 u/s 395/397/34 IPC was registered at PS Sunlight Colony, New Delhi.

Sensing the seriousness and gravity of the case, the Special Cell took up the investigation and developed the information regarding the case. On visiting the spot it was found that the entry into the depot was not restricted and the cash-room was a far away from the gate, which aroused the suspicion of insider involvement in the crime. Sources were deployed in and around Delhi and technical assistance was also sought. A special team was constituted for the task. After sincere and painstaking efforts, the team was able to extract the vital information on 30.07.2014 that two of the robbers Arvind @ Bablu and Anil were involved in the said crime. The team further got the information that the duo would be coming to Loni road-Wazirabad road crossing on a motorcycle at 11 AM to meet one of their associates. The team was dispatched to the spot and accordingly, a trap was laid. At 11:10 AM two persons came on a black colour Yamaha motorcycle. The duo were overpowered and apprehended by the team. A loaded country made pistol of .315 Bore alongwith live cartridges and Rs. 90,000/- cash was recovered from the possession of Anil. Three live cartridges of .315 Bore and a paper cutter (knife) and Rs. 80,000/- (recovered from the rented room in Saboli) was recovered from the possession of Arvind @ Bablu. Subsequently, Deepak was arrested at the instance of the duo u/s 41.1 Cr.PC from his house and Rs. 20,000/- was recovered from his house on his instance. Accordingly a case under appropriate sections of law was registered at PS Special Cell, New Delhi.

The accused persons were subjected to detailed interrogation wherein Deepak disclosed that he is a driver with Delhi Transport Corporation and posted at Millennium DTC bus depot. He observed that the security in the bus depot is lax and the entry is not restricted. He planned to commit a robbery alongwith his acquaintances. He called Arvind @ Bablu and Anil, both residents of his native village Doghat, Distt. Baghpat, UP and firmed up a plan for execution. On the night intervening 14-15 July, 2014, all the three assembled at Deepak’s house at around 8 PM. The three came on a black colour Yamaha motorcycle bearing No. UP14M-6063 to the Millennium DTC bus depot. They got in the parked DTC bus and waited for the opportune time to strike. At about 03:30 AM one cashier left the room leaving behind only one in the room. At about 03:45 AM, they went to the counter of the cash-room and forced the cashier to open the door and forcibly robbed the cash and injured cashier Vikram Singh when he tried to offer resistance. They fled away from the spot and reached the house of Deepak. The robbed amount was equally divided amongst the trio.

Profile of Deepak s/o Satyapal Singh is working as a DTC bus driver and posted at Millennium bus depot. He is previously involved in a hurt case of PS Nand Nagri. His father too served as a Clerk in DTC. and Arvind is a resident of village Dhoghat, Distt. Baghpat, UP. He studied upto 9th standard in his village. He left his studies due to weak financial condition and started working as a bus helper at Shamli-Bhudana route. Since he was not earning enough he left this job and came to Delhi and was working in a Jeans Factory in Saboli, Delhi when he was arrested. And Anil Kumar is a resident of village Dhoghat, Distt. Baghpat. He has six elder sisters and two younger brothers. He studied upto 10th standard from his village. Due to weak financial condition of his family, he left his studies and started working with his father. Being unable to make sufficient earnings, he left this work in the year 2003 and started the work in WHO/Polio Scheme.Further investigation is in progress.
