The staff of Police Station- FatehpurBeri, South District has solved a sensational murder case by arresting the accused namely Tilak Bahadur Bhatarai@Aakash, a nepali national who had murdered a person and fled to evade hisarrest from the Indo-Nepal Border.

On 08.02.2021, an information was received at PS Fatehpur Beri that a person was lying in a room at Aya Nagar area and the room was locked from outside. The staff of PS Fatehpur Beri reached the spot. On reaching there, the door was found to be locked from outside,instantly, the lock was broken and a dead body was found to be lying on the floor with a pool of blood. On enquiry, the deceased was identified as Shekhar Kharka S/o Navraj Kharka R/o Village Rakshah, Ward No. 5, P.S. Hardiya,District Saptari, Aanchal Sagarmaatha, Nepal. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 61/2021 Dated 08.02.2021 u/s 302 IPC was registered in PS Fatehpur Beri and investigation was taken up.

Keeping in view the gravity of the offence, multiple separate teams comprising of Inspr.C.L. Meena, SI LaxmanKumar, SI Satyender Gulia, SI Rishikesh, HC Anil Maan, HC Manoj Dhariwal, Ct.Praveen, Ct. Ram Chander, Ct. Dharamveer, Ct. Jaiveer & Ct. Krishan led by Inspr. Kuldeep Singh, SHO/Fatehpur Beri under supervision of Ranbir Singh,ACP/Mehrauli was formed to investigate the case and arrest the accused persons.

During the course of investigation, itwas revealed that the deceased was living in a room on rent along with a room partner. On enquiry, identity of the room partner was revealed as Tilak Bahadur Bhatarai @ Aakash R/o Nepal and he was found to be absconding. The police teamsuspected him and further details of the alleged person were collected and scrutinized.All the teams worked relentlessly on all the aspect of the case. Technical surveillance was mounted in order to get any clue and with the help of technical surveillance,it was revealed that the accused had booked a cab through an app and thereafter the details of the cab driver was obtained and he was thoroughly enquired. On enquiry, it was revealed that he had left the alleged person at Anand Vihar Bus Terminal. On further enquiry, itcame to notice that the accused was likely to flee away to Nepal from Anand Vihar Bus Terminal.

After getting the crucial information, the teams were dispatched to three different borders of India-Nepal, including Banwasa border, Dhankari border & Ranifanta from Uttarakhand where the possibility of crossing the border was high. The police staff conducted a thorough search of the accused with Uttrakhand police and Sashastra Seema Bal(SSB).The photographs of the alleged were shown to the locals and also in the marketareas. The sincere efforts of the team bore fruits when the accused was apprehended from Sarda Bairaj Check Post, PS Banbasa, District Champawat,Uttrakhand, while he was trying to cross India-Nepal Border on 09.02.2021 ataround 4 pm. On enquiry, he informed that he was going to hide himself at Village Ranikunda, PS Sukad, District Kailali, Nepal, where his step father Kharak Singh lived as he did not want to go his native village because the deceased also hailed from the same village.

During the course of interrogation, the accused Tilak Bahadur disclosed the motive ofthe murder which was a quarrel between him and deceased over comments made by the deceased on accused’s ex-wife who was engaged to another person on the dayof the murder. Both accused and deceased were in an intoxicated condition on thatnight and after some hot arguments, accused first attacked the deceased with a brick and after that when the deceased fell down, the accused cut his neck with a knife. Later, the accused changed his clothes, raised volume of the TV and locked the room and ran away from the spot. Further investigation is in progress.The staff involved in good work is being suitably rewarded.
