PFWS organized Annual Sports Meet under the banner “MISSION OLYMPICS 2022”

Police Families Welfare Society (PFWS) under the leadership of its President Anu Asthana alongwith Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) organized an Annual Sports Meet 2022 under its banner “Mission Olympics 2022” from 11th February to 19th February 2022. The Sports meet graced by 8 teams had different disciplines like Athletics, Badminton, Shooting, Wrestling, Basketball, Football, Kabaddi and Volleyball were held at different locations in Delhi.

The sports meet culminated with its closing ceremony at New Police Lines Sports Ground, Kingsway Camp on 19.2.2022 which was graced by Rakesh Asthana, Commissioner of Police, Delhi as its Chief Guest. Anu Asthana, President/PFWS, senior functionaries of PFWS, senior Delhi Police officers, other distinguished guests from ONGC, namely, Shri Vijay Prakash, Shri K.S. Randhawa, etc. and guests from sports fraternity viz. Ms. Manika Batra, Indian Table Tennis player and Ms. Sonia Lather, Indian amateur boxer also graced the occasion.
A total of 600 Sportsmen in 8 different disciplines belonging to different clubs and associations across Delhi participated in the Annual Sports meet 2022 organized by PFWS. PFWS teams won 62 medals (Gold – 29, Silver – 15, Bronze – 18) and 3 trophies in all competing disciplines. The winners were awarded with cash prize, medals and trophies for their achievements.

The Chief guest complimented PFWS and its team for their tireless contribution towards Mission Olympics 2022. The Police Chief congratulated PFWS for their excellent work in attracting and grooming sports potential among wards and appreciated their outstanding performances. The Commissioner of Police, Delhi also directed Spl.CP/Welfare to formulate SOPs/rules in order to provide better and quality sports infrastructure and facilities to wards of Delhi Police Personnel in order to improve their performances in domestic and international platforms. The Police Head also appreciated the Mission Olympics as it is in sync with FIT India movement initiated by Government of India under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. The worthy CP Delhi appreciated gesture of ONGC in funding Mission Olympics 2022 of PFWS through CSR. The Chief Guest wished all participants with bright future and success in all endeavors.
PFWS President thanked all the PFWS team and Delhi Police officials associated in organizing the event. She specifically thanked the ONGC for their continuous support.

In the end, balloons of tricolor with banner of PFWS Mission Olympics was released by chief guest along with other guests, juvenating the sportsmen spirit of all participants.
