SPECIAL STAFF BUSTED AN INTERSTATE GANG, ENGAGED IN SUPPLYING ILLEGAL FIREARMS

During a special drive against illegal gun runners in the capital, a team of Special Staff, South East Distt comprising of Inspector Rajesh Kumar, SI P K Jha, SI Sandeep Godara, HC Anil Kumar, HC Vinod Kumar, Ct. Parveen and Ct. Shekhar under the overall supervision of Sh. Mandeep Singh Randhawa, DCP/South East has busted an Inter-State gang, indulged in the trade of illegal firearm in the capital. The gang procures sophisticated semi automatic pistols from Munger, Bihar and sold them to criminal elements in Delhi and NCR. The arrested accused are identifies as (1) Chand Babu s/o Shahabuddin r/o F-56, Abul Fazal Enclave-1, Jamia Nagar, Delhi Age 29 years (2) Faiyaz Ray s/o Jan Mohammad Ray r/o Dumra Devraj, Distt. West Champaran, Bihar, Age 25 yrs, (3) Mohd. Nazru s/o Mohd. Jahangir Ahmed r/o Mohalla Sarai Kazi, Kumhar Wala Kuan, Bulandshahar UP. A cache of 09 semi automatic sophisticated pistols, one .38 bore revolver alongwith 19 live cartridges have been recovered from their possession. The consignment of weapons was to be supplied to criminals in Delhi and NCR.

According to Mandeep S Randhawa, DCP, South-East, an in-house study into the growing use of sophisticated firearms over last few years revealed that in most of the cases, illegal weapons used were manufactured and supplied from District Munger of Bihar and later smuggled into Delhi and NCR. Accordingly, a team of Special Staff worked diligently and relentlessly by deploying informers in and around Delhi, Western UP and Bihar. On 11.09.14, SI Sandeep Godara received a specific input about delivery of a large consignment of illegal firearms at Okhla Mandi, New Delhi. A trap was laid at the vantage points near Okhla Mandi out gate. Three suspicious persons holding a bag was spotted on Captain Gaur Marg, Near Canara Bank who were waiting for someone. They were apprehended and identified as Chand Babu, Faiyaz and Mohd. Nazru. Thorough search resulted in recovery of 09 pistols, 17 Magazines, one revolver and 19 live cartridges. Accordingly, a case under Arms Act has been registered at PS Amar Colony, New Delhi and investigation taken up. On interrogation, it has been revealed that they were the members of an Inter State gang, headed by Mohd. Nazru.

During investigation, involvement of a Munger based illegal arms manufacturer and supplier has been revealed. They are supplying the illegal firearms to their contacts in Delhi and NCR through Faiyaz and Chand Babu. The duo used to supply weapons to every part of the country. It is also revealed that all of them supply one such consignment every fortnight in Bulandshahar & Delhi NCR.

On the directions of Mohd. Nazru, the duo Chand Babu and Faiyaz used to visit Delhi, NCR and other places in India to deliver the consignment of illegal weapons. They used to travel by train or bus after receiving consignment from Mohd. Nazru. After reaching their destination, they used to give a call to the receiver of illegal weapons. Duo managed to supply a consignment of weapons every fortnight. Head of this Gang accused Mohd. Nazru was supplying the illegal weapons from last 10 years and he was so cunning that till now he was not arrested in any case of arm’s deal.
