It is really shocking that the Kotla Cricket Ground in Delhi being readied for the 5th ODI India vs Australia today is at present full of tobacco brand promotion inspite of repeated request for not to display as these are Violations of section 5 of COTPA ( Cigarette and Other Tobacco Products Act )
Dr S.K Arora, Addl Director Health, Govt of Delhi in his personal capacity has requested several times to the authorities of DDCA & H & FW Deptt, Govt of India through emails , speed post & social media – official Twitter account since 6th March 2019 with the apprehension that these displays may happen but all his request have gone in vain & the apprehension has become the reality.
Dr S. K Arora said that I am shocked to see the picture of stadium full of displays of tobacco brand inspite of my repeated request to appropriate authoritis to prevent this violation timely. We need to feel responsible to the society esp the youngsters & prevent such violations says Dr Arora.
I am still trying my best. I had repeated interactions with Mr Rajat Sharma, President DDCA, Mr Ravi Chopra, CEO, DDCA & other officials of DDCA for nearly 4 hours in the evening of 12th March yesterday. I have tried to convince them on legal and moral grounds both. They have assured necessary action in the morning of 13th March today. Let’s hope better sense prevails, says Dr Arora
