TRAFFIC ADVISORY BY DELHI POLICE – NEW YEAR EVE – 2015

Delhi Traffic Police shall make elaborate arrangements for smooth flow and regulation of traffic on the eve of New Year, throughout the city. There will be well laid arrangements covering whole of Delhi where such celebrations shall be organized.

Areas where arrangements have been made include Saket, M-Block Market Greater Kailash, Chirag Delhi, New Friends Colony, Defence Colony, South-Extn, Mehrauli, Aya Nagar Border, Khan Pur, Nehru Place near Eros Hotel, Near Govid Puri Metro Station, Vasant Vihar, Vasant Kunj, Kapashera, Dwarka, Rajouri Garden, Netaji Subash Place, Rohini, Pitampura, Ashok Vihar, G.T. Karnal Road, Karkardooma, Laxmi Nagar, Preet Vihar, Mayur Vihar Ph-I&II. However, special arrangements have been made for the areas in vicinity of Connaught Place, New Delhi.

Following restrictions shall be imposed from 8.30 P.M. onwards on 31.12.2014 in the vicinity of Connaught Place till the conclusion of New Year Celebrations. It will be applicable to all private and public transport vehicles.

1. No vehicle shall be allowed to proceed towards Connaught Place beyond (i) R/A Mandi House (ii) R/A Bengali Market (iii) North foot of Ranjit Singh Flyover (iv) Minto Road – Deen Dayal Upadhaya Marg crossing (v) Chelmsford Road near Munje Chowk (New Delhi Rly. Station) (vi) R.K. Ashram Marg-Chitragupta Marg Crossing (vii) R/A Gole Market (viii) R/A G.P.O., New Delhi (viii) Patel Chowk (ix) Kasturba Gandhi Road – Ferozshah Road Crossing (x) Jai Singh Road-Bangla Sahib Lane.

2. No vehicular traffic shall be allowed in inner, middle or outer circle of Connaught Place.

PARKING ARRANGEMENTS

Motorists can park their vehicles at the following places in the vicinity of Connaught Place:-

(i) Near Gole Dak Khana on

(a) Kali Bari Marg

(b) Pt. Pant Marg

(c) Bhai Veer Singh Marg

(ii) Near Patel Chowk on Rakab Ganj Road behind AIR.

(iii) Near Mandi House on Copernicus Marg upto Baroda House.

(iv) Near Minto Road on D.D. Upadhaya Marg and Press Road area.

(v) Panchkuian Road on R.K. Ashram Marg, Chitragupta Road & Basant Road towards Pahar Ganj.

(vi) K.G. Marg near Ferozshah Road or K.G. Marg towards ‘C’ Hexagon.

(vii) Near Windsor Place

(a) Rajender Prasad Road

(b) Raisina Road

Limited parking space will be available near Connaught Place on first come first served basis. Unauthorizedly parked vehicles shall be towed away and prosecuted.

Elaborate traffic arrangements shall also be made at the following places:

Saket

1. Saket City Mall

2. PVR Saket

· Celebrations will be held mainly at Press Enclave Road. One way Scheme has been planned and sufficient staff has been deployed around these Complexes.

· Diversions have been planned at Aurobindo Marg and BRT Sheikh Sarai.

Greater Kailash

1. M-Block Market

2. Under Chirag Delhi Flyover

· Diversions have been planned at Sheikh Sarai and Central School Point at Lala Lajpat Rai Marg by deploying extra manpower.

New Friends Colony

1. Near Surya Hotel

2. Market at CV Raman Marg

· Extra staff has been deployed at prominent locations

· One way scheme has been planned for better traffic management and diversions.

Defence Colony

1. Main Market Defence Colony

2. Kotla Road

3. South Extn. Market

4. Under Andrews Ganj Flyover

5. INA Market

· Diversions have been planned and no commercial vehicles will be allowed in the vicinity after 8.30 p.m.

· One way scheme has been planned and extra staff has been deployed at all strategic locations

Mehrauli

1. Near Aya Nagar Border

2. Qutab Minar Roundabout

· Diversions have been planned, however, there is ample parking space.

· Extra staff has been deployed to man traffic.

Vasant Vihar

1. Radisson Blue

2. Priya Complex

3. Ambience and DLF Malls

4. Vasant Vihar Club Complex

· One way scheme already existing there.

· However, extra staff has been mobilized for smooth conduct of traffic.

Nehru Place

1. Near Eros Hotel

2. Nehru Place Metro Station Complex

3. Nehru Place offices Complex

· Entry and Exit points already implemented.

· Diversions have been planned and sufficient staff has been deployed.

Dwarka

1. Sector -6/10 Market

2. Sector – 4/12 Market

3. Sector 1 & 2

4. Sector -16 B

5. Sector – 7/9

6. Opposite Welcome Hotel near DCP/SW office

· Extra staff has been deployed at prominent locations\

· One way scheme has been planned for better traffic management and diversions

Rajouri Garden

1. Pacific Mall

2. City Square Mall

3. West Gate Mall

· Diversions have been planned and no commercial vehicles will be allowed in the vicinity after 8.30 p.m.

· One way scheme has been planned and extra staff has been deployed.

Ashok Vihar

1. Netaji Subhash Place

2. B-2 Britannia Chowk

· These are commercial places with ample parking space. However, extra staff has been deployed for smooth flow of traffic.

Model Town

1. GT Karnal Road

2. Azad Pur

3. Kingsway Camp market

· Diversions have been planned. Extra deployment has been made at prominent locations.

· Entry/Exit points already implemented.

Kalyanpuri

1. Mayur Vihar Phase I market

2. Mayur Vihar Phase II

3. Noida Mor

· Entry and Exit points have been planned and extra staff has been deployed for better traffic management.

SUGGESTED ROUTES

Motorists are advised to use alternative routes available for North – South and East – West directions.

For North-South movement- Mathura Road, Ring Road, Bahadurshah Zafar Marg, Mother Teresa Crescent Road, Rani Jhansi Marg will also be available for North-South.

For East – West Movement – ‘C’ Hexagon-Akbar Road-Mother Teresa Crescent- Park Street for onward journey or alternatively Mathura Road or Ring Road or B.S.Z. Marg to reach Delhi Gate and take Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, D.B.G. Road.

New Delhi Railway Station – Entry from Connaught Place – Chelmsford Road shall be prohibited. Motorists can take Second Entry Gate of Ajmeri Gate side. They can reach the station via Pahar Ganj – Shiela Cinema or through Ajmeri Gate – J.L.N. Marg side via B.S.Z. Marg – Delhi Gate – J.L.N. Marg.

(i) Special drive against drunken driving Traffic Police will deploy Eighty Six (86) teams to check drunken driving. Violators of drunken driving, apart from being fined upto Rs. 2000/-, suspension of driving license and jail terms may be awarded. This year up to 15/12/2014, 28,059 drivers have been prosecuted for drunken driving out of which 6653 drivers have been awarded jail terms for drunken driving. Driving License of 443 motorists have been suspended.

(ii) In co-ordination with local police and PCR, special pickets to check stunts on motorcycles, over speeding, reckless driving, zig-zag and dangerous driving will be placed at vulnerable locations.

(iii) Two wheeler riders are advised to wear helmets and avoid triple riding.

Motorists are requested to observe the traffic laws and rules to ensure their safety and the safety of other road users. All are requested to cooperate with Traffic Police in these arrangements.
