With the arrest of two accused persons (1) Rajender Kumar @ Raju aged 23 years r/o Distt. Sikar, Rajasthan and (2) Mahender aged 24 years r/o Distt. Sikar, Rajasthan, the team of Police Station Paharganj, Central District has solved a case of criminal breach of trust of PS Pahar Ganj involving theft of gold and diamond jewellery worth Rs. 32 lakh (approx.). 125 gms gold, 170 carat diamonds, cash Rs. 2.5 lakh and one motorcycle CD Delux have been recovered from their possession.
complainant Varun Sharma reported that he runs his parcel service in the name New Ashok Parcel Services at Paharganj, Delhi. He was supposed to receive 8 parcels containing gold and diamond jewellery from another parcel service in Chandigarh on 26.07.18 through one Rajender r/o Sikar, Rajasthan who worked as delivery boy in Chandigarh Parcel Service but he delivered only two parcels. The delivery boy also received 4 parcels from Delhi office to deliver the same at Chandigarh. Meanwhile, complainant Varun called his Chandigarh counterpart to know the number of parcels sent by him and he was surprised to know that 8 parcels were sent by his Chandigarh counterpart. Then, he called Rajender but his mobile phone was switched off. Thus, the delivery boy Rajender misappropriated a total of 10 parcels containing gold and diamond jewellery worth Rs. 32 lakh (approx.). A case vide FIR No 395/18 u/s 379/406 IPC was registered at PS Pahar Ganj and investigation was taken up.
A team led by Inspr. I.K. Jha SHO/Paharganj consisting of SI Manmeet Malik I/C PP Sangatrashan, ASI Abhay Raj, ASI Ranbir, HC Jitender, Ct. Sachin, Ct. Monit, Ct. Shaitan and Ct. Yogender was formed under the supervision of Sanjeev Gupta, ACP/Pahar Ganj.
During investigation, it was revealed that delivery boy Rajender is a resident of Distt. Sikar, Rajasthan but his exact address was not known and there was possibility that if the police team enquired about his address, he might escape from there. The police team was immediately dispatched to his native village but the team could not succeed initially. However, after proper homework and with the help of technical surveillance, the team was again sent to his native village and accused Rajender was apprehended from there. During initial interrogation, he disclosed the name of one Mahender, resident of same village who hatched this conspiracy. Subsequently, Mahender was also apprehended.
Both of them were subjected to sustained interrogation in which Mahender disclosed that he earlier worked in the Karol Bagh office of the same company but about 6-7 months before, he was sacked. Thereafter, he hatched a plan with his neighbour Rajender and on his guarantee, Rajender was appointed as delivery boy in the Chandigarh office. When Mahender came to know that the parcels containing handsome jewellery articles were being transported, he asked Rajender to steal the parcels and escaped. Further Rajender disclosed that as per the plan, he stole 10 parcels out of 12 and escaped. Then, he went to Ajmer, Rajasthan and sold some of the gold jewellery. He lived in a five star hotel in Ajmer and spent about Rs. 4.5 lakh on girls, shopping and other luxuries. He also gave cash Rs. 1 lakh and some diamond jewellery to Mahender who bought a motorcycle from this money.
At their instance, gold and diamond jewellery articles and cash Rs. 2.5 lakhs and one motorcycle purchased from the stolen money have been recovered. Further investigation is in progress.
