In the light of recent incidents of armed robberies in Delhi, a team of officers of SOS-I, Crime Branch, Sec-14 Rohini, Delhi, led by Inspr. Sanjay Dahiya comprising of ASI Yashpal Singh, ASI Narender, HC Anil Malik, HC Anil, HC Bhoop Singh, HC Raman Kumar & HC Virender, Ct Sandeep, Ct Ankush, Ct Pravesh, Ct. Sohan Veer & Ct. Parminder Singh under close supervision of Sh. Arvind Kumar, ACP SOS-I, Crime Branch was constituted, to identify the criminals involved in supplying of firearms to criminals in Delhi and NCR. Close watch was being kept on the persons found previously involved in such crime.

Dedicated and systematic efforts of the team bore fruit when, on 29.10.18, the team received specific information that one arms supplier Deepak, would come to Kanjhawala to deliver a consignment of weapons to someone. The team immediately swung into action and laid a trap. At about 5.40 PM, Deepak @ Rajesh r/o Bakkarwala arrived in a Gramin Sewa Van from Ghevra. He was apprehended by the Crime Branch team. He was carrying a shoulder bag which was checked and a good quality 7.65 mm pistol and two .315 bore pistols were recovered from him. Three rounds were also recovered. A case under appropriate section of law was registered against him and investigations taken up.

On sustained interrogation, Deepak @ Rajesh disclosed that he had already been arrested in about a dozen criminal cases previously. In the year 2014, while he was in jail, he met Manish @ Kalu r/o Bulandshahar, UP who was also serving time for possession of illegal firearms. They decided to join hands and work together. Both came out on bail in the year 2014 and started working together. Manish procured firearms through his contacts in Bulandshahar, UP. He supplied these weapons to Deepak who further sold them to criminal elements in Delhi and NCR. Deepak got a good margin of profit by selling weapons. He bought a .315 bore pistol from Manish for Rs. 13-15 thousand and sold it for 22-25 thousand. Similarly he bought a 7.65 mm pistol for Rs. 30-35 thousand and sold it for anywhere between Rs. 45-50 thousands per piece.

Deepak started his criminal career in the year 2012 when he was arrested for vehicle theft. Later he was arrested for snatching also. Subsequently he came in contact with gangster Vikas @ Vicky Dagar r/o Jharoda Kalan New Delhi. Vikas was serving time in jail for an attempt to murder case in which he and his associates had tried to eliminate ex MLA Bharat Singh, brother of Krishan Pehelwan in Najafgarh. He got embroiled in the gang war of Najafgarg and even procured 2 bombs to eliminate rival gangster Krishan Pehalwan. He was arrested with the bombs in 2015 by the Special Cell, Delhi Police.

Efforts are being made to explore the forward and backward linkages in the chain of weapon supply by Deepak. He will be brought on police remand and the police team will visit Bulandshahar to look for Manish. Efforts shall be made to find out about the criminal elements who bought weapons from Deepak in Delhi. Further investigation in the case is on.
